Open to partnerships

We constantly look for potential partners with whom we can talk and collaborate on the project and with the communities that surround it.

Portucel Moçambique's main institutional partners in this venture are

  • The Mozambican Government
    Represented by its central, provincial, district and community authorities.
  • The International Finance Corporation (IFC)
    A World Bank institution, which has owned a 20% stake in the project since December 2014.

Other important partners include the Local Communities – which share with Portucel Moçambique the land and the project, and work with it to achieve their common goal of prosperity – and civil society organisations.

In addition, Portucel Moçambique is also eager to find potential partners to share ideas and work together for the good of the project and the communities who live around it.

Public Consultation | New FSC® Controlled Wood Supply Area

MANICA PROVINCE (Gondola District) AND SOFALA PROVINCE (Muanza District) – Mozambique

We invite you as a stakeholder, to participate in the public consultation regarding the supply of controlled forest-based materials, being conducted within the scope of FSC-STD 40-005 V3-1 standard, by FSC and Chain of Custody.

This public consultation aims to assess the risk of supplying wood originating from IFM Plantations, in the Provinces of Manica (Gondola District) and Sofala (Muanza District) – Mozambique, in the following Categories of controversial origins, as defined in Annex A of FSC-STD 40-005 V3-1 Requirements for Controlled FSC® Wood Consumption:

  • Category 1 – Wood harvested illegally
  • Category 2 – Wood harvested in violation of civil and traditional rights
  • Category 3 – Wood harvested in forests where High Conservation Values are threatened by management activities
  • Category 4 – Wood harvested in forests being converted to plantations or non-forest uses
  • Category 5 – Wood sourced from forests where genetically modified trees are planted
